Everything can come to life through the hands of a puppeteer, including costumes, props, scenery, and space itself! This online course explores the various roles a puppeteer plays (invisible, visible, character, force of nature, etc.) in relationship to the performing world they inhabit. Classes feature simple physical warm-ups; movement provocations; short improvisations with materials, furniture and performing objects; and show and tell performances. Scenes devised between puppeteer and their environment aim to wiggle your audience’s emotions or rankle their deep attachments to affects like joy, pain, hope, or wild abandon. Emphasizing a collaborative and supportive classroom, this course asks everyone to give it a try and play together. Discoveries await!
